Life is Beautiful

Guido, a lovable Jewish Italian goes to Rome as a waiter in his Uncle's hotel. He lives in a pre-World War II Italy. He always accidentally bumped into his princess Dora who was a school teacher. In series of events, he wins her heart by surprising her several times making it appear as if the Virgin Mary is cooperting with him. He was used to greet her "good morning Princess". Dora is already engaged to a city official. Guido saved her from that stodgy clerk and they marry. Several years have passed, they had a son named Joshua. After five years, Guido owned a bookstore which is managed by the family.

Life seems so good for them in spite the fact that Mussolini has just signed a pact with Hitler to implement the Nazi policies with regards to Jews. At Joshua's 5th birthday, he and his father is kidnapped by the Germans. His wife who is not Jewish chooses to go along just to be with the family. They are taken into a concentration camp wher they suffer as prisoners. Joshua go along with his father while Dora is separated to them.

For the sake of saving the life of his son, Guido takes a big risk treating the whole camp as a game. He made his son believed that it's merely a game and that they have to earn 1000 points to win the prize, a real tankwhich is Joshua's unfulfilled birthday gift. He also told Joshua that he has to hide for additional points.

The movie was great that it makes you laugh in the start and may leave you tears at the end. Life is Beautiful is a touching story which portrays a father's genuine love to his family.
